Six people have been charged following a police investigation into the supply of drugs in Brinnington.

It comes as part of 'Operation Vulcan', a period of intensified police activity and investigation in the area launched by Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

Four men and one woman have been charged with possession with intent to supply cannabis, amphetamines, heroin, and nitrous oxide gas:

  • Ben Ashworth (28/07/1983), of no fixed abode.
  • Chris Collins, (20/04/1961), of Dunster Avenue, Brinnington.
  • Alexander Gamble (03/09/1995), of Romney Way, Brinnington.
  • Daniel Cherrington (28/07/1985), of no fixed abode.
  • Chelsea Bell (11/04/1998), of no fixed abode.

Another man has been charged with possession with intent to supply cannabis and amphetamine:

  • Terry Bland (25/01/1999), of Brecon Towers, Brinnington.

The specialist Operation Vulcan police team has been on the ground since mid-February, and GMP says they are 'making significant inroads' in tackling drug supply in the area.

The team has previous experience working in Derker, Piccadilly Gardens, and Cheetham Hill.

They have been carrying out "a sustained campaign of activity", ranging from arrests and early-morning search warrants through to community engagement days.

The team aims to tackle criminality head-on, while 'laying foundations' to keep the crime rate lower in the future.
