A team at Stepping Hill Hospital have been nominated for a prestigious national award.

The Stockport NHS Trust Estates and Capital Team - responsible for building and maintenance at Stepping Hill - have been shortlisted as 'Estates and Facilities Team of the Year' in the Healthcare Estates Awards 2024.

The team were nominated by builder contractors Tilbury Douglas, who are working with them to build and deliver the new emergency and urgent care campus on the hospital site.

The care campus will feature new assessment, treatment and consultation areas; the rapid assessment unit is already open, with the same day emergency care centre set to follow early next year.

"The award recognises the close working partnership between both the capital colleagues organising the building project, and the estates colleagues overseeing the maintenance", an NHS spokesperson said.

The awards will be hosted by the Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM), which celebrates the best standards in the industry.

Paul Featherstone, director of estates and facilities for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust said "It is fantastic that our capital projects and estates colleagues being recognised at the national IHEEM Awards. Building the new emergency and urgent care campus to improve local care has been a real team project, and we're glad the award reflects that. We wish them all the best of luck at the ceremony."

The winners will be announced in a ceremony at Kimpton Clock Tower Hotel in Manchester on 8 October.
