Local residents will be treated to a blast from the past this month, with a retro train due to call at Stockport soon.

The Mancunian Princess, an InterCity 125 train, will be visiting Stockport on Friday 29 May at 11.30am.

It will pick up passengers at Stockport station on its way from Manchester to Princess Risborough.

The departure times are as follows:

• Bury (ELR) - 9.58am
• Manchester Victoria - 10.59am
• Stockport - 11.30am
• Stoke-on-Trent - 12.18am
• Tamworth Low Level - 12.49am
• Nuneaton - 1.05pm
• Milton Keynes Central - 14.08pm

And the arrival times are:

• Reading - 3.20pm
• West Ruislip 4.13pm
• High Wycombe - 4.35pm
• Princess Risborough - 4.46pm

Standard class tickets are available from £79.

First class non-dining tickets are also available, from £119.

The InterCity 125 was first introduced to Britain's railways in 1976. It was named after its top operational speed of 125 miles per hour.
