A Reddish man has been identified as one of four people arrested in connection with a 'suspected drugs plot' in Greater Manchester.

Along with another man from Openshaw, he has since been charged with conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs, money laundering and possessing an offensive weapon.

They have been remanded in custody ahead of a court appearance at Stockport Magistrates on Wednesday 10 January 2024.

In the early hours of Tuesday 9 January as part of "ongoing work to tackle organised crime in the district", this pair - along with two others - were arrested, and four addresses were searched.

Following a search of the addresses, a 'significant' amount of drugs were found; police recovered large quantities of white powder (believed to be cocaine), vacuum-packed cannabis and 30,000 nitrous oxide cannisters, as well as an estimated £40,000 in cash and some high-value watches.

DS Lee Attenborough from GMP Stockport Challenger team said: "These arrests are part of the proactive work we do across Stockport to ensure we tackle drug dealing in our communities and target the associated criminality and vulnerability that goes hand in hand with the drugs trade.

"The team seized a significant amount of drugs [on Tuesday] morning which would have undoubtedly caused serious harm in our community had the product made its way onto our streets.

"With the support of our community, and collaborative efforts from across GMP and the local authority, our organised crime team are relentless in pursuing those involved in drug dealing and serious crime across Manchester, and I would ask anyone who has information about this kind of activity comes forward so action can be taken."
