A spot of time travel is in store for Bramhall.

On the weekend of 11-12 May this year, Bramall Hall will host The 1635 Household, a group specialising in portrayal of life during the reign of King Charles I (1625-49).

Visitors of all ages are welcome, and can expect to see carefully-researched costumes and museum-quality item replicas.

The aim is to create an immersive experience through 'interpretive history' - for some, a much more effective and tangible method of learning about the past.

More specifically, visitors will see what life was like for a gentry family in a house like Bramall, in this painstakingly researched interactive event.

The group has worked with English Heritage and The National Trust, as well as a number of museums and local government departments. And this won't be their first visit to Bramall Hall - the group's visit last year was hugely popular.

As the group says: "This event will be a fascinating glimpse into the past, and a fun, enlightening and interactive day out for all the family.

"The Household features music, period food, authentic trades and a wealth of detail about life in England before the English Civil War."

This is a rare opportunity to experience an often-overlooked aspect of Stockport's history.

On each day, the group will be performing from 11am-4.30pm. Advance tickets for either day can be found HERE.
