Adswood Lodge, a new £6 million care home in Cale Green, has recently opened its doors.

Mayor of Stockport Councillor Graham Greenhalgh cut the ribbon at an official opening ceremony.

The new home supports adults living with neuro-disabilities including Huntington's disease, brain injuries and strokes, physical disabilities, spinal injuries, and complex mental health needs.

It is operated by Exemplar Health Care, one of the country's leading nursing care providers for adults living with complex and high acuity needs.

The home has 30 large bedrooms, split into three 10-bed communities. With this small group living model, Exemplar Health Care has found it can provide a far more supportive environment that is more responsive to people's needs. Each community has a dining room, lounge, quiet lounge, and a sensory bathroom.

The new home created 100 new healthcare jobs in the local area and will feature a multi-disciplinary healthcare team unlike many other care homes.

The new staff team prides itself on empowering residents to maximise their independence in a way that works for them.

Sarah Lydon, home manager at Adswood Lodge, was 'delighted' to open the new home. She said: "We aim to make every day better for our residents by providing person-centred care that maximises independence, builds everyday living skills, and empowers people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.

"We are proud to have an exceptional team of colleagues who share a deep passion for providing excellent care and fostering a welcoming and nurturing atmosphere."

Helen Lawson, commissioning manager at Exemplar Health Care, said: "We have left no stone unturned in designing every aspect of Adswood Lodge to cater to the specific needs of residents.

"We are confident Adswood Lodge will make a positive difference to the lives of many people in the local area, supporting adults with complex care needs to remain close to their loved ones whilst receiving exceptional support from a range of health and care professionals."

Councillor Graham Greenhalgh, Mayor of Stockport, said: "I had the privilege of touring the new Adswood Lodge Nursing Home in Stockport.

"It offers a wide array of facilities from bespoke private rooms to communal lounges for the residents. I was particularly impressed with the health facilities such as spa baths, treatment rooms and a dedicated clinic. The staff were a wonderfully caring group who offer a full-service 24-hour support. This is a shining example of the care services now available in Stockport."
