The prestigious Oddfellows brass band will visit Stockport on 10 December to play a special Christmas-themed concert.

All money raised on the day will be donated to the Teenage and Young Adult service at The Christie.

The event will take place at 2.30pm at St George's Church, Heaviley; tickets cost £5 for adults, and are free for children under 16. Children will even receive a free selection box!

The band will play a two-hour show featuring both festive-themed tunes and some classic brass numbers.

Oddfellows is a social club, founded in 1810. As well as boasting its own brass band, the club hosts a range of social events designed to promote new friendships among its members.

The brass band was founded in 1981 by Rob Boulter, who continues to play in the band to this day.

Speaking of the upcoming Stockport trip, Rob said: "We are extremely excited to come to Stockport and put on another brilliant show.

"There's always something extra-special about brass concerts at Christmas time. Everyone is in high spirits and the crowd usually likes to sing along, and I'm sure it'll be no different here."

The visit was organised by the local Combermere Oddfellows branch. Sarah North, development officer for this branch, said: "We can't wait to welcome the public to what I'm certain will be another wonderful show by Oddfellows Brass – they are always spectacular.

Combermere Oddfellows hosts regular events across Stockport, Glossop, Manchester, Leigh and Bolton. Its members can also access a range of benefits, such as care and welfare support and a travel club.
