Police officers have slammed an un-insured driver who let their son sleep on the backseat - without a seatbelt on.

Police say they spotted the vehicle after the driver went through a red light and drove at 47mph in a 30mph zone at around 1am on the morning of May 9.

After officers stopped the car in Stockport, they discovered it had 'three bald tyres' and the driver had no insurance.

They also realised the driver's son was laid on the back seat of the car asleep and didn't have a seatbelt on.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said the driver has been reported and the vehicle had been seized.

They said: "This vehicle contravened a red traffic light, drove at 47mph in a 30mph zone, had 3 bald tyres and no insurance.

"The driver also failed to ensure her child was restrained correctly, letting him sleep on the back seats. Driver reported, vehicle seized and referrals submitted."
