Police responded to a concern for welfare in Edgeley on the afternoon of Thursday 22 January.

There was a large police presence on Aberdeen Crescent, causing some disruption to traffic in the area.

Police with protective gear were on the scene, alongside ambulance services.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said there is no current risk to the public.

A GMP spokesperson said at the time: "We're currently responding to a concern for welfare at an address on Aberdeen Crescent in Edgeley.

"While there isn't a current risk to the wider public, we know there might be concern about our large presence in the area and the disruption this is causing during the end of school rush hour.

"We thank people for their patience at this time and urge them to refrain from speculation."
