Police are responding to a concern for welfare in Edgeley this afternoon (Thursday 22 January).

There is a large police presence on Aberdeen Crescent, causing some disruption to traffic in the area.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has said there is no current risk to the public.

A GMP spokesperson said: "We're currently responding to a concern for welfare at an address on Aberdeen Crescent in Edgeley.

"While there isn't a current risk to the wider public, we know there might be concern about our large presence in the area and the disruption this is causing during the end of school rush hour.

"We thank people for their patience at this time and urge them to refrain from speculation."
