Greater Manchester Police (GMP) recently outlined a promise to continue work in Brinnington, to further improve community safety and to maintain the reduction in anti-social behaviour.

Police do so in partnership with Stockport Council and Stockport Homes.

GMP states that since May of last year, reports of 'rowdy and inconsiderate behaviour' reduced by 40%, and vehicle nuisance/ inappropriate use by 50%.

The partnership of GMP, the council, and Stockport homes aims to continue this progress, and is also committed to "continuing investment in community facilities, parks, green spaces and new homes", as a statement outlines.

Neighbourhood lead Chief Inspector Clare Ryle said: "Reports of ASB have fallen in the last 12 months but, whilst the community remain concerned, we remain committed to working with our partner agencies to problem solve and build a safer community - for both now and the future.

"The number of officers posted to Stockport's Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPT) has been increased by 19 and they are working with colleagues to provide a proactive presence in hot spots at peak times.

"The NPT is tackling the use of illegal off-road bikes by using intelligence to inform proportionate policing and, in the right cases, taking action against riders, seizing illegal vehicles, and recovering those which are stolen.

"We've also secured funding to install additional CCTV, which won't just act as a deterrent but will also help us solve crimes and bring offenders to justice."

GMP, the council and Stockport Homes also make a number of other pledges to improve community engagement, including: deployment of additional youth workers; visits to primary and secondary schools alongside Stockport County FC, to engage with young people through sport and discussions about crime; local officer engagement with residents and businesses to address their concerns.

Mark Glynn, director of place management at Stockport Council, said: "Brinnington is a great place, and we are proud of their community's many positive initiatives and relationships.

"Like most areas, there are challenges, but through a powerful partnership between GMP, Stockport Council, Stockport Homes, and many other partners, we are actively building a safe and thriving community.

"Working in partnership with communities at a neighbourhood level is a big part of this work – designing ways to keep people independent, safe and connected in their community."

GMP also highlights the presence of Bee in the Loop, a tool for reporting or receiving information on crime in your area.

A statement says: "Bee In The Loop is your direct line to your neighbourhood policing team and will keep you in the loop about what is happening on your street and in your local community. Sign up to receive free text or email alerts – beeintheloop.co.uk."
