Police are appealing for information after a woman was reportedly assaulted in a vehicle which was driving in Stockport.

Officers have since said that they believe the report was made 'in good faith'.

A report was made that on Saturday 28 December 2024, a woman tried to exit a vehicle at the crossroads of Rostherne Road and Garners Lane, Stockport, but was dragged back in and assaulted.

Police are 'extremely concerned', and initial enquiries have not been able to locate either the woman or the driver.

The last sighting of the car was around 6.30am on Saturday 28 December. It's described as a dark-coloured hatchback heading towards Davenport railway station.

The woman is described as being white, wearing dark coloured leggings and UGG boots. The driver is described as a white man wearing a black coat or jumper.

PC Natalie Jamieson said: “It’s important that when we get serious reports like this, we exhaust all possible lines of enquiry.

“We have spoken to those in the local area and trawled all available CCTV, ring doorbell, road camera and dashcam footage. Unfortunately, all enquiries have proven negative for identifying a victim, suspect, vehicle, or offence at this stage. We have had no further reports connected with this.

“As with all reports, should any new information come to light which would open new lines of enquiry, we will look to explore these.”

Anyone with information is advised to call Stockport CID on 0161 856 9790 or 101 quoting log 537 of 28/12/24 immediately. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
