Greater Manchester Police is appealing for information after a series of 'deliberate' fires in the Cale Green area.

Officers found four fires in wheelie bins and on fences in the area, after being called to the scene in the early hours of 5 October.

Police are treating the fires as arson.

Residents should expect an increased number of officers in the area as police carry out enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Arthern, of Stockport CID said: "We believe the fires were deliberate and are treating them as arson, so are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward with any information.

"These were a series of stupid and reckless acts that could have resulted in serious injury. Fortunately, thanks to the quick work of GMFRS, the fires didn't spread.

"We would also like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, between around midnight and 1am, or who has any dashcam footage, to also contact us."

Anyone with information about this incident should contact police quoting log 102-5/10/2023.
