Plans have been submitted for some new padel courts in Reddish.

Major Padel Club - a Portuguese padel operator - is looking to open nine double courts and two single courts at Vauxhall industrial estate.

The club would also include a cafeteria, bar and lounge area, storage areas at ground floor, and a disabled toilet and changing facilities.

The club is looking to convert one of the units on the estate for the purpose.

Although proposals for the club are still in early stages, it is expected that the courts will be booked online in half-hourly time slots.

The facility is expected to open on weekdays from 6am until 11pm, on Saturday from 6am until 10pm, and on Sundays 7am until 10pm.

The new facility is anticipated to create seven full-time and two part-time jobs.

Amendments to the parking outside the unit is proposed, too, to better accommodate visitors.

Major Padel Club operates internationally and aims to provide high-quality, accessible facilities.

One of its landmark sites is the Padel Athletic Club in Porto, a large venue which is owned by Diego Dalot, the Manchester United player.

The firm runs Padel Athletic Club in Porto, a large venue owned by Manchester United footballer Diego Dalot.

Padel - a hybrid of tennis and squash - is widely recognised as the world's fastest-growing racquet sport.

There are an estimated 35 million players worldwide, and throughout 2024 alone, over 400,000 people in Britain had played padel at least once.

Plans for the courts were submitted in May 2026, with a decision due in August.

The consultation expiry date is Sunday 14 June for neighbours and Friday 12 for everyone else.
