Offerton residents warned of 'bogus' gas workers committing burglaries

Offerton and Werneth residents have been warned about 'bogus' gas workers operating in the area.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the force has dealt with two incidents of burglaries from people pretending to be gas workers.

Residents are advised to check the identity cards of any workers visiting the house.

"Over the past 24 hours, we have been dealing with two incidents of bogus gas workers committing burglaries in the Werneth and Offerton areas", GMP said in a statement.

"Make sure you are checking identity cards of anyone calling at your house and if you are unsure, do not to let them in."
