Vacant eight-acre site in Reddish to become new 206,000sq ft trading estate
Construction work has begun to transform a vacant eight-acre brownfield site into 206,000 sq ft of modern industrial and office units.
The redevelopment of the Vauxhall Industrial Estate in Reddish will see up to 28 new buildings created across six blocks, and will create around 700 new jobs.
The new site will also have strong green credentials, with 56 electric vehicle charging points, rooftop solar panels, and an 'A' energy rating.
Foundation works have been completed and the installation of steel frames and cladding is now under way for each block.
The units are scheduled to be available for lease from the second quarter of 2024.

Metrolink in Stockport future-proofed in development plans
Metrolink services in Stockport took a step closer to becoming reality this week after space for a future tram track was included as part of a development project in the town.
Network Rail is set to replace the deteriorating Greek Street and Stockholm Road bridges and the plans include tram-train futureproofing for one additional track through a tunnel which "ensures the bridge can be adapted when Metrolink comes to Stockport."
The borough has been waiting for years for a tram service after Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said in 2019 that he would like the service to run to Stockport, Bolton, and Wigan.

Former High Lane pub could become Sainsbury's
Plans have been submitted to Stockport Council to convert the former Dog and Partridge pub into a Sainsbury's Local store.
Originally, planning approval was granted to demolish the site and convert it to a Co-op store. However, since then, Co-op has withdrawn from the scheme.
Sainsbury's has since acquired the site, and has submitted an application to amend Co-op's already-approved plans for a new convenience store. These new plans would slightly change the layout and planned delivery times.

Plans submitted for 'vibrant' new Caribbean restaurant in Stockport Underbanks
Plans have been submitted to Stockport Council for a new Caribbean bar and restaurant in Stockport's Underbanks.
The proposed location is the former Stage Door costume shop, adjacent to SJS Smith Jewellery.
Most changes would take place internally, with a ground floor and below-ground floor, along with a bar and kitchen.
The facade would see less wide-ranging modifications, although the front windows would change.
The application says: "We have proposed transforming the existing building's poor appearance and state of repair into a good quality presentable establishment to match other shops currently on Little Underbank.
"The empty space is to be transformed into a vibrant upscale Caribbean restaurant and bar to co-exist within other establishments on the street. This establishment will add value to this illustrious place."
