Progress continues on a new hospice building in Heald Green.

Members of the public were welcomed to St Ann's Hospice for a preview of the construction of the new building, sited next to the current 150-year-old hospice.

The hospice provides care to patients with life-limiting illnesses.

The new building will offer better and more modern services - in all, it's a £26.5m construction project, due to be completed by Autumn 2025.

Rachel McMillan, Chief Executive of St Ann's Hospice said: "Updating the public and our stakeholders about the progress being made on the new site and informing everyone on what to expect when the new hospice site is operational has been of the utmost importance to us here at St Ann's.

"I would like to thank everyone who turned out today, your continued support means to world to us."

Upon arrival, the public were introduced to 'The Build it Together' appeal, which has raised over £1.4m so far for the construction of the new building.

The hospice is hoping to secure a final £600,000 to ensure the construction of the new building can be completed.

Once complete, the building will include a 27-bed inpatient unit, including individual en-suite rooms and access to private outdoor terraces.

The new building will feature modern outpatient services and dedicated bereavement and family support spaces.

Lee Haughton of Caddick Construction, Project Manager of the St Ann's Hospice new build said: "Caddick Construction are delighted to welcome vested stakeholders and the wider public this afternoon with a visit to site here at the new St Anns site to witness and visualize the good progress being made as both the inpatient unit and the Being You Centre buildings are starting to take shape.

"St Ann's Hospice are a fantastic organisation, a charity that provides essential care and support to both the local and wider region.

"I take this opportunity to remind those invested and the wider public, that without their incredible support, this ambitious life-changing project would not be possible."
