Plans for a new office building in Romiley are currently being revised.
Plans for a new office building for local engineering company Caspian NDT were approved in May of this year; however, further plans modifying the original project have since been submitted.
These further plans reflect the changing needs of the business, and aim to further improve the quality of the development, which would be sited on a vacant plot at Underhills, near Romiley station.
As a planning statement reads: "The growth of the business in the period since submission of the original application has allowed the applicant to envisage and invest in a higher quality of building which will enhance the character of the built environment in this area."
New plans would keep the footprint the same, but would revise the interior layout; chiefly, this would now be a two-storey building, as opposed to a single-storey as was proposed originally.
The general design of the site aims to be appropriate to the area whilst serving the needs of the client.
It would use metallic cladding with green tones to denote a building which was obviously commercial but which nonetheless blended into the environment.
The office would provide a working space, meeting room, directors office, workshop, WC, kitchenette and garage.
A decision on the revised plans is expected before 30 January 2024. The neighbour consultation period ends on 31 December 2023, and the standard consultation ends the day before, on 30 December.
