A new Netflix series which had scenes shot in Stockport has premiered.
Run Away - the new series based on Harlan Coben's book of the same name - is now available to Netflix viewers as of 1 January 2026.
Filming took place around the town centre in May 2025, encompassing Market Place and other familiar locations.
The series features a star-studded cast, with the likes of James Nesbitt, Ruth Jones, Minnie Driver, Alfred Enoch, and Lucian Msamati all taking on roles.
It has also received warm critical acclaim so far, with The Guardian describing it as a "deeply pleasing Harlan Coben thriller, as a father goes in search of his missing daughter".
Speaking in 2025 with Tudum - Netflix's fan festival - Harlan Coben said: "Run Away is about family — about what we will do to keep our family intact, what secrets we keep within our family, and what secrets we keep as a family.
"Every time you walk past the house, there's a whole universe that goes on behind that door and none of us have a clue what it is."
It's far from the first time that Stockport has been used as a filming location.
Fool Me Once - another Harlan Coben adaptation - was filmed in Stockport, and the town has also hosted film crews from Daddy Issues, Peaky Blinders, and many more.
