A new Mother Hubbard's fish and chip shop is opening just outside Stockport town centre.

The new building is based around Heaton Norris, along Wellington Road North. It sits on the site of the Hope Inn, near the junction with Cotswold Road.

While an opening date has not yet been confirmed, a Mother Hubbard's spokesperson said the opening would be coming soon.

The site contains car parking space, plus plenty of seats inside, so diners can either eat in or take away.

A spokesperson told Nub News: "Visitors can expect to experience our famous fish and chips made to a high standard as a dine in or take out experience."

Naturally, the staple fish and chips will be on the menu, featuring Icelandic haddock and British spuds.

But there will also be some other classics, including jacket potatoes, meat pies, cheese pasties, and much more.

Mother Hubbard's was founded in 1972 in Bradford - the first shop there was opened by Stan and Hilda Ogden, Coronation Street favourites.

The restaurant franchise has since gone on to open a number of other sites across Yorkshire and the North West.

"We have a modern feel but still with the traditional taste to take you back to your childhood memories", the Mother Hubbard's website reads.
