Stockport has welcomed a new bar which also offers a range of different games.

Described as 'more than just a bar', Loft Social is based in a bright and airy space overlooking Market Place.

It offers a quality range of drinks - what you'd expect in a good bar - but also games such as archery, shuflboard, curling, and petanque.

Like a modern social club, it's designed to 'spark interaction' and provide something to do besides just drinking.

In the words of the owners, it's about creating 'shared experiences'.

"Whether it's groups of friends, awkward dates, team bonding, a night out, or simply rediscovering the joy of play, we're here to bring people together in a way that feels fresh, fun, and truly social", a spokesperson said.

It's opening to the public today (Friday 26 September).

It'll be easy to bring your friends, colleagues and partners and have a casual game, but there will also be events hosted by the venue designed for newcomers or for people looking to meet new pals.

In short, it's a chance to have a drink, and try your hand at some fun and accessible games - no doubt having a laugh in the process.

And you might find that negotiating a particularly troublesome shuflboard shot is more conducive to good conversation than staring at one another over a glass!

• Thursday - 3.30pm-11pm
• Friday - 3.30pm-12am
• Saturday - 12pm-1am
• Sunday - 11.30am-9pm
