A new chippy is opening in Stockport Underbanks, on the site of the former Salty Towers restaurant (Image - Nub News)

A new fish and chip shop is opening in Stockport town centre.

The new spot is based on Little Underbank, on the site of the former Salty Towers restaurant.

It will be opening in Autumn - a specific date has yet to be confirmed, though.

Signage outside the new restaurant confirms it's being run by the team behind Alfredo's Social (the pizza restaurant next door), and The White Lion.

Salty Towers 2 in Edgeley remains open.
