A new concept bar has opened on the site of Cantaloupe, the former restaurant which featured in the Michelin guide.
Dubbed Bar Caput, it opened to customers on Wednesday 26 August, at 71 Great Underbank.
The new bar, which specialises in wine, beer and cocktails, takes its inspiration from the drinking culture of Rome.
It promises to become Stockport's very own 'little rione of Rome'.
As well as drinks, Bar Caput also has a menu featuring fritti, Pizza Romana Ronda, plus more dishes taken from Rome's osterias, made with 'great produce'.
The atmosphere aims to be relaxed, with the same care and attention that put Cantaloupe on the map.
Cantaloupe opened in 2024, and quickly earned a name for itself for its 'simple, skillful' European cooking, and 'welcoming' atmosphere.
It held its last service on Saturday 8 August.
In a statement on social media, the Bar Caput team said: "A celebration of the culture of the Eternal City, 71 Great Underbank will become our own little rione of Rome.
"We'll be serving great wine, cocktails and beers, all inspired by the drinking and apperitivi culture of Rome."
