A new Macmillan Cancer Support centre has opened at Stepping Hill Hospital.

It will offer personalised support, advice and guidance for residents affected by cancer across Stockport and the High Peak.

As well as information, resources and advice, staff at the centre will also be able to help users access local services and organisations.

It operates on a drop-in basis, with no appointments necessary.

The building's design has been carefully considered to offer support - it maximises natural light, and incorporates elements inspired by nature, offering a calming, welcoming space.

The centre is based between the rear medical and surgical building entrance, and the outpatients department C at the hospital.

The centre is run by Joe Wiecha, the Macmillan Cancer Support Centre manager.

Joe said: "It's been fantastic for the centre to finally open and welcome our very first visitors.

"Whoever you are, and whatever your experience of cancer, you will always receive a warm welcome at our centre.

"Whether you're living with cancer, supporting a family member or friend, or adjusting to life beyond treatment, our team is here to listen, support you, and help you access the information, services, and guidance you need."

The centre is open Monday-Friday, 10:00am – 4:00pm, and can be contacted via email at [email protected] , or on the phone at 0161 419 4582.
