An art exhibition showcasing some remarkable Stockport-themed artwork will launch on Saturday 22 February.

The exhibition opens from 11am-3pm at Stockport Hat Works, in the Arc Centre.

Dubbed 'Visions of Stockport', the exhibition showcases unique artworks which were created collectively by more than 500 people. The artists came together in different groups, across a string of more than 30 separate workshop sessions, working on the art bit by bit.

The first framed pieces are at the Hat Works - after this, visitors are invited on a tour of Stockport to see the other artworks, which are dotted around the town centre.

Overseeing the project is the team at Self Care Creatives, who orchestrated the workshops where the art was planned, designed and produced.

The workshops took place across Stockport, welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds.

"From printmaking and photography to natural dyeing, each session was a chance to experiment, have fun and share ideas", the Self Care Creatives team said. "Our collaborative workshops with local organisations and artists offered a chance to relax, try new skills, and connect with others."

The result is a body of artworks which use a wide variety of techniques and styles, housing the creativity and insight of more than 500 different local residents.

One participant summed it up by saying: "Projects like these are helping build up the community spirit"

The workshops were supported with the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
