A new block apartments in Stockport town centre has reached an important milestone.

Bosden - a building featuring 62 high-quality homes - has been 'topped out'; that is to say the final beam has been placed in the highest spot on the building.

The building is one of three which will be part of the Stopford Park development, a new neighbourhood totalling 442 new homes.

The project team marked the occasion by raising a hat - a nod to Stockport's hatting heritage.

Bosden will be the first building to be completed in Stopford Park, and is expected to open in March 2026.

The Stopford Park development is based on Greek Street and Wellington Road South.

In addition to Bosden, there will be a a striking 16-storey residential tower comprising 258 apartments called Lyme, and the former Metropolitan Girls' School on the site will be converted into a further 122 new apartments, dubbed Torkington.

The development, which is being carried out by Cityheart, promises to 'transform' the area and mark a 'new chapter' for Stockport.

Greg Ball, Development Director at Cityheart, said: "This topping out marks fantastic progress for the Stopford Park community. Bosden will provide superb homes for sale in the heart of this thriving town. Stopford Park is set to become an exciting new place for people to live, work and socialise."

Stockport Council Leader, Cllr Mark Roberts, said: "Today's topping out of Bosden is a significant milestone in the delivery of Stopford Park and Stockport's regeneration journey. It's more than new homes, the development is creating a confident, new urban neighbourhood that signals ambition for our town centre, proudly blending Stockport's heritage and modern design to breathe new life into historic buildings.

"Alongside the new apartments, the landscaped Art Park will provide a vibrant green space for residents and visitors to relax and connect. Stopford Park plays a key role in the revival of the Royal George Quarter as part of our nationally recognised town centre regeneration programme, led by the Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation, and we're excited for the scheme to complete next year and welcome new residents to our growing and reimagined town centre."
