A pharmacist who supports patients at Stepping Hill Hospital with their acute pain needs has received a national award for her excellent care.

Hannah Fenton received the title of 'Allied Healthcare Professional of the Year' from the National Acute Pain Symposium (NAPS), the forum for acute pain clinical specialists from across the UK.

Hannah has been part of the Stockport NHS Foundation Trust Acute Pain Service for just under a year. During this time she has made invaluable contributions to the team and ongoing pain management projects.

She has been recognised for showing great enthusiasm and passion for pain management, and consistently using her pharmaceutical expertise to ensure the safest possible care for patients.

Hannah is currently working on a pilot project for pre-operative patients on high-dose opioids, seeking to improve their pain outcomes after surgery, and once again showing her outstanding commitment to patient care.

She is part of the team at Stepping Hill Hospital's Acute Pain Service, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, supporting over 25,000 patients over the years.

Hannah received the Allied Healthcare Professional of the Year at the latest NAPS annual event in Warwick. The symposium has been running for over 30 years as a forum for pain specialist healthcare professionals to work together and share good practice to improve the care of patients.

Harriet Forbes, Acute Pain Specialist Nurse said "Everyone in the Acute Pain Team was thrilled for Hannah to receive this award from the National Acute Pain Symposium. It is so lovely to see that Hannah has been recognised for all her hard work and commitment to improving pain management for our patients over the past year. This award is well deserved!"
