A huge street party is taking place in Stockport town centre this November.

The 'Spectacular Sunday' event will be returning for the third time on Sunday 16 November, with free performances taking place throughout the day.

Expect festive bands, giant puppets, street performers and much more - all scattered throughout Market Place, the Underbanks, Merseyway, Redrock and Suffragette Square.

The programme of events is expected to last from 11am until 5pm, with hundreds of performers.

Last year's event saw more than 50 different groups, and 2023's inaugural event recorded the largest single day of footfall in the town centre since 2019.

A Stockport Council spokesperson promised "a full day of free entertainment, festive activities and surprises across the town centre".

They added: "Join us as we celebrate the start of Christmas together – it's set to be a day to remember."

Speaking of 2023's inaugural Spectacular Sunday, Totally Stockport director Stuart Braodbelt said: "Despite the rain, we were delighted that Stockport's first Spectacular Sunday enticed huge numbers into the town centre [...].

"Never have we seen so many amazing acts entertaining visitors of all ages, on one day, in one place! It was truly magical [...] and a fantastic start to Christmas."
