Market Street in Marple has been transformed by some new festoon lighting.
The lights, which criss-cross the street, are designed to bring the area to life in the evenings.
The project was developed by the organisers of Marple Fest and supported by Stockport Council.
It was funded partly through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the local ward members' budget, crowd funding in the community and fundraising directly through the Marple Beer Run in memory of Tommy Tognarelli.
Cllr Colin Macalister, ward member for Marple South and High Lane, said: "This is a fantastic example of local pride and partnership at its best.
"Residents, businesses, and volunteers have worked together to raise funds and make this idea a reality.
"The new lighting will help bring Market Street to life in the evenings, support community events, and create a safer and more welcoming environment.
"It's a real boost for Marple and shows what can be achieved when the community and Council work hand in hand."
A spokesperson for Marple Fest said: "Marple Fest are thankful for the input of various local businesses and charities, councillors, Stockport Council and the individual contributions of people living in Marple through the fantastic crowdfund.
"We would like to thank Barlow's for their support with installation of the festoon lights in Market Street. We would also like to thank the family of Tommy Tognarelli for their significant contribution, through the Marple Beer Run, in loving memory of Tommy."
