Marple Library will move its services to a new location from the beginning of September.

The library will move from its current building to a 'pop-up' at the Marple Scouts Headquarters.

It will remain there until the new Marple Community Hub opens, where the library will ultimately be relocated.

Stockport Council has said it is "currently finalising details" with the Marple Scouts Headquarters.

The temporary pop-up library will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

It will offer a selection of books, plus public computers, and staff will also be on hand.

Online eBooks will remain free 24/7. The library's home delivery service will also continue in the Marple area.

Contractor Willmott Dixon will be taking possession of Marple Library and Marple Police Station at the beginning of September.

Construction on the new £20 million community hub is expected to start this winter, after plans were unanimously approved at a planning committee meeting on 15 August.

As well as the new library, the new community hub will feature a 25-metre, five-lane swimming pool, with a spectator seating area and a changing village, as well as a 60-station fitness suite and two multipurpose fitness studios.
