A male who was wanted by police on recall to prison having breached his licence conditions was caught yesterday (31 August).

The male, in company with a female, entered the Range store and secreted goods to the value of £40 in their bags.

The male was spotted by CCTV operators at the Peel Centre. Both were detained and arrested by the neighbourhood town centre police team.

Both persons were interveiwed and admitted to theft. The male was charged and recalled to prison to serve the remainder of his sentence and the female was bailed to appear at Stockport Magistrates this morning (Friday 1 September).

PC Leadbetter-Smith who is the Neighbourhood Beat Officer for the Peel Centre stated " This was a great spot by our partners at Stockport Homes CCTV.

"I am pleased that we have been able to stop this theft and return the male to prison in order to complete his original sentence. Your neighbourhood team will not tolerate crime of any type regardless of value and we will always take positive action."
