Man re-united with £2,700 bike after it was stolen in London and rediscovered in Offerton

A London man has been re-united with his bike after it was stolen in the capital before re-appearing in Stockport.
The man, who has asked to remain anonymous, made the near 500-mile round trip from London to Stockport and back to pick the bike up after it was discovered by police.
The bicycle was stolen from Islington and subsequently put up for sale on eBay. Intelligence passed on from the Metropolitan Police led to the bike being discovered at an address in Offerton.
The bike's owner said he had been using it a lot to go on rides with his young son, and added that he 'couldn't thank officers enough' for helping him get it back.
"It's not often there is a happy ending when a bike is stolen", he said.
"It was taken about eight months ago from my locked alleyway but I never gave up searching for it.
"Although it took me a 500-mile round trip to get a bike home, I'm very happy to have it back thanks to GMP and the Met Police."
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "We are delighted to have helped him and return his bike, and shows we can be of service not just to the people of Stockport but also further afield.
"Further enquires revealed that the male seller was a legitimate purchaser and had paid a reasonable price for the e-bike from a seller in Liverpool.
"Enquires are now ongoing with our colleagues at Merseyside Police."
