Greater Manchester Police (GMP) Stockport today announced that an adult male has been charged for brandishing a knife at a town centre bus stop.

The male was charged with possession of a bladed article and breach of bail, and was found guilty at court. He was also convicted of criminal damage from another unrelated incident, also in the town centre.

GMP states: "He was remanded into custody where he will remain until he is sentenced."

The statement goes on to say: "Stockport Town Centre Neighbourhood Team are committed to targeting and reducing knife crime and making the streets of Stockport safer.

"If you wish to report any crime or information, please report it to GMP on 101 or using the live chat function at www.gmp.police.uk . Always dial 999 in an emergency.

"Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
