A man has been arrested following a drugs bust in Stockport.

Greater Manchester Police carried out a misuse of drug warrant on an address on the Mottram Farm estate on Sunday.

A 24-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of the unlawful importation of cannabis into the United Kingdom, possession of cannabis with the intention to supply, possession of over £2000 in counterfeit currency, and possession of an offensive weapon. 

The search comes as part of Operation Concept, an initiative by Greater Manchester Police alongside UK Border Force and Royal Mail which focuses on the interception and disruption of the importation of illegal weapons, drugs, and contraband through the post. 

Police Inspector Jason Holmwood, who oversees the Stockport central policing area, said: "Yesterday's successful drugs warrant and the arrest of a male at the address is the result of focused, intelligence led policing and the continued support of our local community. 

"We know the impact that drug supply has on neighbourhoods — from increased anti-social behaviour to the exploitation of vulnerable people — and we are committed to tackling these issues head on. 

"I want to reassure residents that we take their concerns seriously. 

"Information from the public plays a vital role in helping us identify those involved in criminal activity, and yesterday's action shows what can be achieved when we work together.
