The M60 was completely closed in an anti-clockwise direction from around 2.30pm this afternoon (Thursday 8 July) as emergency services responded to a concern for welfare.

The A6 bridge over the motorway was also taped off as greater Manchester Police dealt with the scene.

The roads re-opened around 4.30pm, and the welfare concern was safely resolved.

Congestion continued along the A6 for some time after.
