A local businessman has shaved around one decade's worth of hair growth to raise money for breast cancer prevention.

Phil Davis, the co-owner of DPC Clinic in Cheadle, raised £1,200 for Prevent Breast Cancer, a charity aimed at detecting and preventing breast cancer early.

Phil 'braved the shave' in support of two close friends - one of whom passed away as a result of breast cancer.

Donations were given by friends, family, and customers at the clinic, making short work of the original £500 target.

Phil said: "Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and to everyone for their support and encouragement during October and the build-up to the actual 'big snip'. I'm delighted to have raised so much for such a worthy cause and am gradually getting used to my new look when I catch sight of myself in the mirror.

"A large proportion of my regular clients are female and we're all aware of someone who has been affected by breast cancer, so it was my pleasure to do something small towards this good cause."
