Mellor Art Society, an artists' collective based in Marple Bridge, is hosting an 'open evening', showcasing the work of its members.

Not only will the exhibition feature the work of the society's talented members, but it will also be an opportunity for experienced or aspiring artists to consider joining the society themselves.

This is a friendly and creative club; all skill levels and interests are welcome.

The open evening takes place on Wednesday 13 September at St Martin's Church Hall, Brabyns Brow, Marple Bridge, between 7pm and 9pm.

Aside from open evenings, Mellor Art Society also hosts a number of other events.

For one, professional tutors are regularly invited to the group, with previous workshops featuring Martin Goddard, Geoff Kersey and Eric Wilson.

There is also an annual exhibition in October, again featuring the work of members.

The society was formed in Mellor in 2000 but has since moved to Marple Bridge, where members meet in the hall every Wednesday evening.
