Elections will be coming in from 2pm.
Elections will be coming in from 2pm.

With 63 seats in contention this year, these are the final results.

FINAL RESULTS:

  • LIB DEM - 30
  • LABOUR - 24
  • GREEN - 3
  • EDGELEY COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION - 3
  • INDEPENDENT - 3

The Lib Dems are the largest party after gaining two seats on last year's 28, although they have failed to achieve a majority. Labour command one less seat, and the Conservatives have lost all seats.

Edgeley Community Association have made impressive gains, controlling the entire Edgeley ward. Similarly, Independent Ratepayers control Heald Green, and the Greens swept the board in Reddish South with all three seats.

The final result was Offerton, a contentious ward, given that the Lib Dems needed all seats to win a majority. However, important wins from Labour councillors Will Sharp and Helen Hibbert mean the Lib Dems will remain the largest party, but will not control a majority.
