Students across Stockport celebrate 'exceptional' results

Students at colleges across Stockport received their A Level, T Level and BTec results today.
It's been an 'outstanding' year for Stockport, with colleges and sixth forms across the borough reporting near 100 percent pass rates and high rates of A*-B.

Stockport Grammar School celebrates exceptional A Level results

It's been another successful year for Stockport Grammar School, which has recorded a flawless 100 percent pass rate.
A whopping 41 percent of results were A*-A, and a similarly impressive 75 percent were between A* - B.
Amongst those celebrating is Head of School Sachin Gholkar who achieved an A* and two As. The keen musician, who will be studying General Engineering at Durham University, spoke with warmth and gratitude about his time at SGS at this year's Speech Day.
Fellow Head of School May Nassar will be heading to Newcastle University to study Archaeology after securing one A, one B and one C grade. Joining her in Newcastle will be Magda Zelazny who will study Medicine after achieving two A*s and an A.
The University of Oxford awaits Edward Griffiths who earned three A*s, and two As. Edward revealed he is 'over the moon' and is looking forward to starting his Philosophy, Politics and Economics course.
Nathan Hopley and Isabella Taylor-Stokes will be heading across the Atlantic Ocean after securing Golf Scholarships to King University, Tennessee and East Carolina University respectively.
Head of Senior School, Mrs Sarah Capewell said: "I am immensely proud of the results that our pupils have received this summer. Through their resilience, courage and character, they have achieved superb outcomes, balancing their academic work with a range of wider opportunities available to them at SGS. They leave us not just ready for their next steps but beyond ready."

A Level successes at Marple Sixth Form College

Marple Sixth Form College is celebrating a 40 percent A*-B rate, and a 100 percent pass rate.
Top subjects included Film Studies and Media Studies, both achieving 100 percent high grades, while vocational results in the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art & Design saw 45% achieve Triple Distinction* and 83% Triple Distinction or above.
One of this year's stand-out achievers is Marple Sixth Form College student Charley Dean, who combined her creative and scientific talents through A Levels in Fine Art, Chemistry and Biology, achieving AA*A. She is progressing to study Animation at Sheffield Hallam University on a four-year course with a work placement or freelance year.
Charley balanced her studies with caring for her mother. She praised the support of her tutors for providing extra sessions and flexibility when needed. "It's been challenging at times, but the encouragement I've had has made a huge difference," she said.
Another Marple success is Mohammad Matin Maddah, who achieved AAB grades in Maths, Chemistry and Physics, securing his place at the University of Manchester to study Chemical Engineering. He thanked the Marple College staff for taking good care of students and being 'really caring'.

T Level success for Stockport College and Cheadle College

It's good news for T Level students at Stockport and Cheadle colleges, many of whom have secured jobs or apprenticeships with top industry placements.
Take Stockport College student Callum Hitchen - he completed a T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction and will begin an apprenticeship in Site Management with Caddick Construction.
"The mix of classroom learning and industry experience was perfect for me," said Callum. "My placement gave me the skills and confidence to step straight into my apprenticeship."
TJ McKiernan also completed the same T Level and is starting a Level 3 apprenticeship in Civil Engineering with Quinns in Warrington after a placement with a family business. "The placement and employer visits really helped build my CV and interview skills," he said.
Mahnoor Wahab, 19, completed a T Level in Childcare at Cheadle College, a decision she's never looked back on. "The T Level gave me more advanced skills and opened up better job opportunities for the future", she said.
Her course included an industry placement at Little Peeps Nursery in Cheadle, where she impressed staff so much, she's now working as part of their bank team.
Mahnoor plans to continue her studies at Manchester Metropolitan University in Early Years and Childhood Studies, with the goal of completing a PGCE and becoming a primary school teacher.
"I'm really proud of how far I've come, the T Level was the right choice for me."
Another success story is Sophia Kebas - after joining Stockport College from Ukraine for her English and Maths GCSEs, she's now smashed her Art and Design course with an impressive Merit.
The college also singled out Hamza Sultan, who shone in his T Level in Business Administration.
A spokesperson also praised some other members of the class of 2025: "Kieran Naish is taking his Distinction Distinction Merit to @manmetuni to study Digital Film Production
"McKenzie O'Brian is heading off to do a Procurement Apprenticeship with OCU.
"And Edward Warriner is off to a Degree Apprenticeship with Network Plus."

Aquinas College celebrates 'outstanding' set of results
Aquinas College, based in Davenport, is celebrating a 'fantastic' set of achievements in 2025.
The college has revealed that 60 percent of its A Level results were at the highest grades of A*, A or B, and 99 percent of results were a pass.
Further still, 72 percent of Vocational grades were at the top Distinction* or Distinction grades with a 100% pass rate.
A college spokesperson said on social media: "Whether students have done A levels, vocational subjects or a combination of the two, their results have been fantastic and topped last year's highest ever performance by an Aquinas cohort.
"This is a fitting conclusion to the hard work and endeavour they have shown over their whole school and college career.
"The skills, habits and virtues that they have developed over the last two years gives us great confidence that they will go on to progress into positive and productive futures and careers.
"All of the staff and governors are very proud of their achievements and wish them the very best on whatever path they choose.
"Over the next few days, we will be sharing some of our students' individual successes, so be sure to check our social media for more details."

Stockport Council sends best wishes to students
Stockport Council has announced its congratulations to students across the borough who are receiving their results today.
A spokesperson said: "Good luck to everyone getting their #ALevelResults today. No matter how it goes, young people across Stockport can speak to someone confidentially if they need a little bit of extra support. Remember – we' re here for you!"

The national picture
Generally it's a positive outlook across the country, with a record number of students getting into their first choice university, the BBC reports.
226,580 18-year-olds are expected to receive offers from the 'first' or 'firm' choice of universities.
What to do now?
Congratulations to A Level, T Level and BTec students across Stockport. Irrespective of how you've done, these exams can be pretty gruelling so well done for getting yourself through it.
However, if results aren't quite what you were hoping for, don't worry.
