The bus gate on Heaton Lane will be reactivated from today (Friday 26 January), meaning the gate can only be used by buses, pedal cycles and Hackney carriages.

The Heaton Lane bus gate had been temporarily suspended to accommodate for works associated with the new transport Interchange.

The reactivation follows the completion of those works.

The gate uses number plate capture technology to identify vehicles that are not allowed to use bus lanes or bus gates.

A statement on the Stockport Council website reads: "If you enter a bus lane or use a bus gate, you may get a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) of £60, which will reduce to £30 if you pay within 21 days."
