Carpetright in Hazel Grove is closing down.
The store, based on Macclesfield Road, is one of 213 across the country which will be closing soon. Exact dates have yet to be confirmed.
It comes as Carpetright enters administration, following a period of general consumer decline.
Tapi, a rival furnishings brand, arranged a rescue deal to buy 54 stores. One of these is in Cheadle - so whilst the Hazel Grove store will close, the Cheadle branch is among the 'saved' stores.
However, Tapi has said it won't be able to fulfil all outstanding orders, nor will it be able to save the other 200 or so stores. It means that around 1,500 Carpetright employees will be made redundant, and that some customers are now left without goods which they have paid for.
Tapi's CEO said he was 'desperately sad' not to have been able to save more jobs and orders.
Founded in 1988, Carpetright was one of the largest British retailers of floor coverings and beds. The BBC reports that the company fell into trouble following a cyber attack in April. The company has also faced a general decline in consumer demand in recent years.
Managing director of Tapi Carpets and Floors, Jeevan Kariri, said: "Our goal, initially, was to try to save all of Carpetright.
"However, as we looked into the details of the situation, we quickly established saving the entire business was unviable."
