Government defence minister Luke Pollard called at Stockport this month to visit the KNDS facility.

KNDS is a military manufacturer, producing defence equipment such as tanks, armored vehicles, artillery, and ammunition.

Mr Pollard was joined by Stockport MP Navendu Mishra who aimed to showcase the region's contribution to national defence and advanced manufacturing.

The minister toured the Stockport KNDS facility, based in Heaton Chapel, visiting staff and apprentices along the way.

Minister Pollard said: "KNDS Stockport is a great example of how defence investment supports both our national security and skilled well paid jobs across the UK.

"I was impressed by the cutting-edge work being done here in Stockport and the dedication of the workforce, proving that defence is an engine for growth."

Navendu Mishra MP added: "Stockport has a proud industrial heritage, and KNDS continues that tradition with world-class manufacturing and skilled local jobs.

I am pleased that Minister Pollard had the chance to see this important work firsthand following on from a visit by the then Shadow Secretary of State for Defence John Healey MP in February 2022."
