Global jewellery and accessories retailer to open new shop in Merseyway this June
By Alasdair Perry 8th Jun 2026
A major fashion retailer is opening a new shop in the Merseyway Shopping Centre this June.
Lovisa, the Australian jewellery chain, will be opening a new store on 27 June, in what was formerly the Ernest Jones unit.
The retailer specialises in affordable, contemporary jewellery and accessories - think earrings, necklaces, rings and everyday accessories, perfect for everyday wear.
They have over 1,000 stores in 50 different countries across the globe.
The new Stockport shop will occupy 888sq ft of ground floor space for its wide-ranging collection.
Joshua Nunnerley Knoops, Lovisa's North West regional manager, said the company have "had (their) eye on Stockport for a while".
"We're absolutely thrilled to be bringing Lovisa to Stockport as part of our UK expansion", he said.
"Now we're bringing that bit of extra sparkle to the town."
Cllr Micheala Meikle, cabinet member for economy, regeneration and skills at Stockport Council, added: "It's fantastic to see more national retailers choosing to invest in Stockport and recognising the strength of our town centre.
"Welcoming brands like Lovisa, alongside the continued expansion of existing retailers at Merseyway, reflects the growing confidence in Stockport as a vibrant place to shop, visit and spend time.
"Our £2bn regeneration programme is transforming the town centre and creating a destination where national brands, independent businesses and local communities can thrive together. These latest openings are another positive step in building a stronger and more diverse retail offer."
Victoria Nichol, Merseyway Centre manager, similarly said: "We're delighted to welcome Lovisa to Merseyway.
"As we continue to evolve the retail offer, attracting recognised high street brands alongside supporting independent businesses remains a key priority.
"The continued investment from retailers demonstrates the strength of the town centre and the increasing number of visitors choosing Merseyway as a destination to shop, socialise and work."
This new opening comes not long after Shoezone relocated to what was formerly the Tessuti store.
As Victoria Nichol added: " These openings reflect the continued confidence retailers have in both Merseyway and Stockport town centre."
It also follows a boost in footfall for the shopping centre, with last year's visitor count of 11 million up 15 percent on 2024.
