Free keep fit sessions to take place for National Fitness Day

As part of National Fitness Day, Stockport Council is offering some free fitness sessions on Wednesday 18 September in the Stopford House Piazza (Image - Stockport Council)

Today (Wednesday 18 September) is National Fitness Day, and there will be a huge range of fitness activities in Stockport town centre to mark the occasion.

From 11am until 2pm today, a huge range of activities will be taking place in the Stopford House Piazza.

This includes Zumba and Yoga sessions, spin bikes, guided walks, running, and more.

Further still, local vendors such as Marleys Tacos and Kafeine Coffee will be on hand throughout the day, offering food and drinks to keep the energy high.

The full timetable is as follows:

  • 11.15-11.45am Zumba
  • 12-12.30pm Body Balance
  • 12:15pm Walk led by Age UK
  • 12:30pm Join the Stockport Council Run Club on a 5K circular run to Alexandra Park
  • 12.45-1.15pm Glutes and Core
  • 1.30-2pm Yoga

Councillor Frankie Singleton, Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture & Sport, said: "The event is a chance to embrace the positive impact exercise has on us all. It's not just about exercising for short term goals, but about taking small steps towards a lifestyle which can both protect and improve your health for years to come.

"Aligning with our One Stockport One Future ambition of making sure Stockport is the best place to live a happy and healthy life."
