A new facility offering advice and support on issues such as housing, money and employment has opened in Stockport town centre.

A 'Live Well space' has now opened at Cornerstone, based at the Stockport Homes head office on Edward Street.

The aim is to bring a range of services together in one space, including: housing advice and support; skills, training and employment guidance; money and benefits advice; a dedicated DWP Youth Hub; access to databanks; digital support and inclusion services; immigration advice; and citizens advice.

Councillor Dan Oliver, cabinet member for communities, culture and public protection, said: "Live Well is all about making it easier for people to find the right help, in the right place, at the right time.

"This space at Cornerstone is another important step in building a connected network of support across Stockport.

"Alongside our libraries, Family Hubs, leisure centres and other community spaces, it will provide a welcoming place where residents can be signposted to advice, access support and stay connected to what's happening in their local area.

"By bringing support into the places people already know and trust, we're helping everyone to stay well, independent and connected in their communities."

Marie Gilluley, chair of the SKylight Board, added: "The launch of Stockport Live Well at Cornerstone is an important step forward in how we support residents across the Borough.

"By building on the support already in place and bringing partners together, we are creating a more connected, accessible offer for our communities.

"This is exactly the kind of collaborative approach we need to ensure people can easily find the right support, improve their wellbeing, and access new opportunities."
