It's toilet-tastic news for the Merseyway Shopping Centre which has picked up three accolades for its loos this month.

The centre was praised for its baby changing and toilet facilities at the UK Loo of the Year Awards 2026, which aim to celebrate 'the highest possible standards' in washrooms across the country.

Merseyway was awarded 'best baby-changing facilities in England', 'best baby changing facilities in the UK', and 'best toilet facilities in a shopping centre'.

The facilities scored highly for their accessibility, hygiene, state of repair, and quality of equipment.

The centre's new toilets were singled out for their modern, spacious and 'immaculately-maintained' loos, with fully accessible adult changing spaces, and even a dedicated prayer room for quiet reflection.

Merseyway Manager Victoria Nichol said the centre was 'absolutely thrilled' to win the three awards.

"Together, our thoughtfully-designed spaces provide a dignified, stress-free experience for all visitors and staff", she added.

"It sets a new benchmark for inclusivity, reinforcing Merseyway's commitment to being a welcoming destination for everyone."

Cllr Michaela Meikle, cabinet member for economy, regeneration and skills at Stockport Council, also said: "These awards are a brilliant recognition of the team's dedication and hard work in creating a space that's welcoming for everyone, whether people are shopping, attending events or visiting Stockroom."
