Firm behind Adlington new town proposals respond to government decision
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 24th Mar 2026
The firm behind the Adlington new town proposals has responded to the government's decision.
Seven locations have been identified for potential new towns of at least 10,000 homes.
Thanks to the efforts of local councils, campaign groups, residents and politicians such as Macclesfield MP Tim Roca, Adlington has not been selected.
However, Belport, the firm driving the Adlington plans, has seemingly not given up hope just yet.
A spokesperson said: "We acknowledge the Government's decision to take forward seven large new towns and note their assessment of the Adlington site being a credible development opportunity.
"The site remains a viable proposition that can deliver homes for Cheshire and the North West alongside infrastructure and amenities.
"We look forward to further engagement and are ready to assist government and the region in delivering new home ambitions."
