A closure order has been secured on a property at Durham House on York Street Estate, Edgeley.

It came following 'persistent' anti-social behaviour, which was 'having a detrimental effect on the local residents and the community'. Stockport Homes and Greater Manchester Police received complaints of a high number of visitors coming and going from the property, damage to the communal entrance, as well as arguments, drug activity, and threats from visitors to residents.

Greater Manchester Police, Stockport Council, and Stockport Homes gathered sufficient evidence to take legal action against the property and its tenant.

The Closure Order was granted at a hearing in Stockport Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 13th September 2023. It means that no one is permitted to reside in, or visit, the property as is for a period of three months.

Stockport Homes says: "The order will provide respite and protection for the residents who were affected by the behaviours whilst Stockport Homes proceeds to take back permanent possession of this property."
