Dangerous driver who caused death of 27-year-old sentenced to over six years in jail

A man has been sentenced to six years and nine months in jail after causing death by dangerous driving.
In an incident in February 2024, 27-year-old Ryan Evans was killed after a car that he was passenger in crashed into a wall.
The driver, 28-year-old Arran Donnelly of Ince Close, had been travelling at speed and consuming nitrous oxide while driving.
Donnelly pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, and was sentenced on Friday 19 September.
He's also been given an eight year and four month driving disqualification, with an extended mandatory retest.
Ryan's mum said their family will be feeling 'pain and devastation' for the rest of their lives.
"Please, please think twice before you drink, take drugs, or do balloons and then drive", she said. "One moment of recklessness can ruin lives forever."
DC Giblin from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit added: "Donnelly's actions and driving on this day resulted in a young man tragically losing his life.
"Evidence found that Donnelly had been travelling at speed and consuming nitrous oxide whilst driving.
"I hope this sentence becomes reality for other road users who think these actions are acceptable."
