As the nation and the borough recovers from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, Stockport Council has announced a series of memorial projects which have either been completed or are being developed.
There is at least one project in every ward across the borough - examples of memorials include plaques, flagpoles, benches, planters, and even an art exhibition.
All of these memorials - 30 in all - fall under the heading of the 'Covid Community Commemoration Project'. The project "was launched as a way of supporting community groups to design, create and install public memorials in every ward of the borough", the council says.
Cllr Frankie Singleton said: "The Covid Community Commemoration Project is a wonderful way to remember those we lost and to honour the way in which everyone in Stockport pulled together to help each other and show true kindness during the pandemic.
"The projects have been nominated by people living and working in Stockport and we are grateful to everyone involved."
