Cost of living support available for Stockport families
By Alasdair Perry 8th Jul 2026
Cost of living support is available to eligible families around Stockport.
Stockport Council is sending out £50 family support vouchers, and the UK government has introduced a new 'crisis and resilience' fund to help families experiencing financial shock.
The vouchers provide £50 per eligible child, and can be spent on things like bills, food, school uniforms, and hygiene products.
Eligibility covers any dependent children who receive either local Council Tax Support or targeted free school meals (or both).
There is no need to apply - eligible recipients will simply have the voucher(s) delivered automatically.
As well as this, the UK Government's new crisis and resilience fund is now available.
It offers crisis payments, housing payments, resilience services, and community coordination.
If you're experiencing a sudden financial shock or emergency, or need an urgent payment to prevent falling into crisis, you can use Stockport Council's online form to apply for a crisis payment.
